Difficult Dilemma

Well, you can imagine difficult dilemma.

An accident happens and people carry on from horrifying and devastating however they can.

Grandma Pearl didn't talk to anybody her whole life about some things.  It wasn't until she was in her seventies that she had a heart-to-heart with her daughter Betty.  And she wouldn't say much past that Betty'd had a twin.  The baby choked on a button on a string in its crib.  The baby died.

Pearl didn't go into any details whatsoever past that.

You can imagine the burden.  An only son in a hand of girls...no other way to make the sort of money that would make up for lost inheritances...a mix of grief and rage, blind anger at something.  The fates, the world, the life, the woman.

Stupidity, carelessness, abuse, murder...these are the possibilities when the impossible happens; the burden a parent carries when an accident involving babies and children happens.

And there's no way to go back in time.
