Learning about Scott's Run in West Virginia gives us great insight into Miracle Run.
Here is a link to work done by Matthew Yeager called "Scott's Run: A Community In Transition."
We found it when we were looking to read Census documents like Grandpa Elias' farm schedule. As you can tell in the work by Yeager, such documents not only reveal more details about the lives ancestors, but can be used to typify people of the day. While using one or two exemplary types of people can add to stereotyping, such examples when taken as just a peep into the past may be the best information that remains.
